K-Jen Golden Retrievers was established in 1992 when Seamus joined our family. Little did we know how much this 10 pound ball of fluff would change our lives. With his good looks, outstanding temperament and sense of humor, he charmed us into the wonderful world of Goldens. We have been fanciers ever since!
Two years later, in 1994, we decided Seamus needed more than our Maine Coon Cat look alike, Schatzie, to keep him company. That's when we decided to bring another Golden into the family. In the Summer of 1994 Ciara joined K-Jen as a companion for Seamus. Since both Seamus and Ciara were bought as pets and we wanted to be responsible pet owners they were neutered and spayed. In 1995 after attending the Golden Retriever Club Of America's (GRCA) National Specialty, I became very interested in how I could show Seamus and Ciara. I had friends who were competing in obedience, which looked like fun. In 1997 Seamus and Ciara both earned their Companion Dog (CD) title. Liam is an AKC Champion (CH), has earned his Companion Dog (CD), Companion Dog Excellent (CDX), his Junior Hunter (JH), his GRCA Working Certificate (WC), his GRCA Versatility Certificate (VC) and his Started Hunting Retriever (SHR) title. He already has a Champion son and continues to sire puppies AKC (CH) pointed from the puppy classes, Best In Specialty Sweepstakes (BISS), Best Of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes and pups that show promise in the field. Of course the next step was finding a foundation bitch. In 2002, Kylie joined our family and took me beyond my show dreams. Two highlights out of many in Kylie's show career were winning 1st place in the 9 mos. to 12 mos. Sweepstakes Class at the 2002 GRCA National and winning her first conformation points for a five point major at just 18 months old. Ultimately, Kylie finished her AKC Championship quickly and easily at two years old. Unfortunately, because reasons beyond our control, Kylie had to be spayed...Our fifth Golden, Kim, came to us in 2005 as a stud fee puppy, of course which Liam was the sire. We have been playing in conformation, obedience and field. On August 5th, 2007, Kim became a mother, whelping a singleton, 16 oz. puppy boy. She loves motherhood, but is looking forward to getting back to her activities.Tulley is Kim's special singleton puppy. Like his mom, he loves life, wants to please and is happiest being busy! Tulley is already retrieving birds and swimming. We have high hopes for this little big guy.Thank you for visiting and stay tuned for more to come. Jennifer and Ken Workman |
